DIY Bug Spray for kids

DIY bug spray

Right here under this tree is my kids’ favorite spot in the yard.  It’s a prime location for catching lighting bugs at night and the best place to play and swing during the day due to the shade the tree gives us.  Sadly, it’s also a prime location for mosquitoes and other bugs that love to swarm my kids.

I hate having them miss out on summer fun, so I have to resort to bug sprays if we want to enjoy the great outdoors without becoming a feast for mosquitoes.

Like everything else I put on my family’s skin, I like to choose products that are non-toxic and as pure as possible.  Finding a commercial bug spray in the store that meets those requirements is very slim. Most contain Deet and other harsh ingredients, so like many things, that means I have to make my own.

Thankfully, I have found a blend of oils from Plant Therapy, Ban the Bugs, that makes this SUPER easy.  There’s no buying of multiple essential oils, no guessing on how much of each oil to blend, no wondering if  these particular oils are safe for children.  They’ve done all the hard work for me.  All I have to do is dilute it in a spray container, shake it up, and spray it on my kids.  You all should know by now that if it’s not easy, I’m probably not going to do it.  Mama just doesn’t have as much time as she used to.

This DIY bug spray is safe for kids ages two and older, but also effective for adults.  It’s perfect for the whole family whether you are just playing in the yard, doing some gardening, or taking a weekend camping trip.
