Ok, I admit it. I’m a procrastinator. Always have been. Many a night in high school and college I would pull an all nighter trying to get a project or paper finished that I had weeks to complete but saved it for the last minute.
I’d like to say as an adult, I’ve outgrown that phase, but I’d be lying if I did. So here I am again, letting you all know, this chick ain’t perfect.
This year, I procrastinated Christmas presents. I usually have my list made in October, presents bought in November, and have December to relax, but not this year. Here we are eight days away from Christmas day and I have ONE present bought…PERIOD! Oy!
Maybe you’re like me and you have several people on your Christmas list that you want to bless with a present, but you’ve waited until the last minute yourself. I’ve got something that just may help you out.
Brown sugar body scrub
Homemade, nourishing to the skin, luxurious, frugal and EASY PEASY!
Seriously, this stuff takes like two minutes to make, and you likely have all of the ingredients in your cabinet already.
Here is the easy recipe:
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 cup coconut oil
- 1 tsp. Vitamin E
- splash of vanilla (optional)
Combine brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl. Add coconut oil, vitamin E, and vanilla and stir/smash well with a spoon to combine. Put in airtight container.
See? Super easy! You can customize this basic recipe however you like too. Add different spices, substitute coconut oil for olive or almond oil, add some essential oils, use white sugar instead of brown. Really, just use your imagination and have fun with it. I chose this combination because cinnamon reminds me of Christmas. In the shower this smells like an oatmeal cookie to me. YUM!
Want to kick it up a notch and make it fancy?
- Tie a pretty ribbon around it.
- Make a custom label in picmonkey.com and print it on a sticker.
- Put it in a pretty jar. I love the flip top mason jars.
- Make a custom gift tag.
- Attach the recipe to it.
I always love homemade gifts. They don’t have to cost a lot of money, but they show those around you that you love them.
