I am not a huge snacker, but my daughter definitely is.  She can eat a full lunch and then an hour later say she’s hungry.  Often times I will point her to the fruit basket to have her help herself, but that doesn’t always cut it.  I get asked several times a week for ideas for snacks, so I’ve compiled a collection of recipes from my site and around the web for some snack ideas to get you out of you snack rut.  All are healthy, all are wholesome, and all are things you can feel good about feeding your kids.  Many are just single ingredient grab and go type things, which is honestly what this lazy mom likes best.  Some require a bit more energy, since you will actually be making them.  I don’t do too many of the homemade stuff on a daily basis, so don’t stress yourself out thinking that I’m whipping up homemade goodies day in and day out for my crew, because I’m definitely NOT!  :)  Ready…set…SNACK!


savory snacks


  1. Hard boiled eggs
  2. Nuts
  3. Cheese
  4. Raw vegetables (peppers, carrots, celery, etc)
  5. Hummus
  6. Pickles (bonus if they are fermented)
  7. Beef jerky
  8. Cold chicken or leftover meat
  9. Stove top popcorn cooked in coconut oil
  10. Cottage cheese
  11. Dehyrated veg chips (zucchini chips, radish chips, carrot chips)
  12. Sweet potato chips
  13. Kale chips
  14. Sourdough crackers
  15. Homemade chips or Honest Chips
  16. Roasted chickpeas
  17. Salsa
  18. Avocados or guacamole
  19. Toast and butter
  20. Trail mix- nuts, dried fruit, chocolate chips, unsweetened coconut
  21. Cheese sticks
  22. Green bean fries
  23. Dilly carrots
  24. Indian spiced bean dip
  25. Cheesy eggplant chips

  1. Fruit leather
  2. Fruit of all kinds (We’re loving nectarines, bananas, and blueberries right now)
  3. Apples and nut butter
  4. Dried fruit
  5. Homemade larabars
  6. Graham crackers
  7. Muffins
  8. Yogurt or coconut yogurt with fruit, honey or maple syrup
  9. Kefir or yogurt smoothie
  10. Chunky monkey ice cream bon bons
  11. Bananas and nut butter
  12. Faux banana ice cream (frozen sliced bananas and blended in the food processor)
  13. Popsicles
  14. Fruit snacks
  15. Jello
  16. Mango salsa
  17. Homemade junior mints
  18. Fermented sweet lemon ginger carrots
  19. Organic applesauce
  20. Peanut butter cups
  21. Granola bars
  22. Grain free granola
  23. Ice Cream
  24. Cookies
